Hello Song for 5 year olds on Orff instruments

  • Music Box has some free "Hello Songs" in downloads under SONGS. Music Rhapsody is using this one in the key of F. These 5 year olds performed the Hello Song for their holiday show opener to introduce the audience to the names of the Orff instruments. Xylophones, Metallophones and Glockenspiels are the featured verses, ending with "Time for Instruments to play", where all instruments play. Note the fast beat on the basses. This is much easier for them to keep it steady than the slow beat. Lynn plays the sopranino to keep the "Improvisation" or "Exploration" time a bit more organized and musical. We talk about steps, skips and repeats to keep this time for "free play" more musical. Not sure why but the most in tune singing was on the last verse.  The goal of the classes is to have beautiful in tune singing...its a work in progress! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Y-wui76pvg  For the music and more verses and ideas on using this song all year long, go to www.lynnkleinersmusicbox.com,  click on downloads.
