So many great recordings for beat such as Syncoptated Click, Colonel Bogey and holiday tunes such as Sleigh Ride, Chinese Dance. Lots of wonderful orchestral classics.

Lynn suggests a great dance routine for it in KIDS MAKE MUSIC, Module 2. I also use it for beat keeping using rhythm instruments. I ask my students to silently "LISTEN" during the first phrase (of flutes) and then count to 7 as they "PLAY" their instrument during the next phrase; repeating this LISTEN/PLAY activity 7 times through the entire song ending with one last LISTEN phrase and a big "TA DA" as it ends. The kids love it and ask to do it again and again. less
