Skinamerink for Valentine's Day

  • Here's a lesson I've shared for Mother's Day that is just adorable for Valentine's Day too:

    Skinamerink a dink a dink,
    Skinamerink a doo,
    I love you.
    Skinamerink a dink a dink,
    Skinamerink a doo,
    I love you.

    I love you in the morning
    And in the afternoon,
    I love you in the evening
    underneath the moon;
    Oh, Skidamerink a dink a dink,
    Skidamerink a doo,
    I love you!

    This is a very precious traditional song that can include motions such as pointing to your self on "I", making the heart with your  thumbs together for the bottom point and curve other fingers for the 2 arches of the heart for "love", then pointing to mom for "you."   I do a big sun shape with arms gradually rising to make a sunrise for "morning" and keep  arms up in the big sun shape untilI lowering  for evening.  Then make a big crescent with one arm for the moon.

    On "Skinamerink ,"   bending at the elbow, one arm is placed  across the chest while the other arm's elbow rests on top of the hand, arm up as it moves in a silly circular pattern by rotating the wrist. Repeat with the opposite arms in the same position for "a dink a dink." Then repeat the same arm movements on "skinamerink: and "do." I have known this song forever and I'm thinking you too but if you do not know this and need the music written out, let me know!
