If you have ever purchased your own Orff instruments, you know the significant investment. Fostering care and respect for these beautiful instruments will cut down on needed repairs and make students aware of the value and tone quality, hopefully resulting in more appreciative and sensitive musicians. There are two articles that will be very helpful to teachers introducing Orff instruments to classes for the first time. One is called "Student Rules and Teacher Guidelines, Playing with Orff Instruments" the other is "The Young at the Bars". These articles will share several activities that will make the first few lessons on Orff instruments a guaranteed success with happy students and happy teacher! The ideas will also set guidelines that will be helpful in every lesson using Orff instruments for years to come. Music Box members can find these under DOWNLOADS, ARTICLES and are now free to members. www.lynnkleinersmusicbox.com.
I have been using Orff instruments since I was introduced to them in my college methods course in 1976. My first Sonor instruments, which I purchased for Music Rhapsody in 1983, still sound beautiful and bring much learning and joy to our students. A great investment!
