Let's go back in time (way back) and see how my wee little shoe from my wee little bag (I punched small holes in a suede shoe insert and used a very large needle and yarn) inspires musical playing of finger cymbals.
Remind the little music makers to use their pincher fingers to hang the cymbals. We pretend one cymbal is the shoe, one is the needle and thread. Now come from underneath and pull that thread all the way up! Listen how much the children enjoy the prop and encourage me to return to sewing the "shoe" while they play the cymbals. The song is called Little Shoemaker and is from Kids Make Music, Babies Make Music Too book/CD.
